Angel Island Immigration Station Foundation (AIISF), a San Francisco-based nonprofit raising awareness of the immigration experience into America through the Pacific, is proud to announce the appointment of Edward Tepporn as their incoming Executive Director.

“On behalf of the Board, we are excited to have Edward as our next Executive Director,” announced Board President Buck Gee. “We look forward to Ed’s experience and leadership as we enter the next year and complete our work to re-open the new Pacific Coast Immigration Center next Fall.”

Mr. Tepporn immigrated from Thailand to Texas in the 1970s, graduated from Washington University in St. Louis, and has worked in the nonprofit field for nearly 25 years. He previously served as Executive Vice President of the Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum, which is one of the oldest and largest national advocacy and policy organization for Asian Americans. He created and expanded the organization’s chief strategy office alongside the board and senior staff, and he oversaw granting efforts to garner $32 million in funding over 10 years.

“It is such a privilege to partner with the Board and staff at AIISF,” said Mr. Tepporn. “I am excited and humbled to join an organization with such a rich connection to my own heritage, and I am grateful for the challenges ahead.”

AIISF entered its search seeking a strategic executive to raise its national profile and expand partnerships with other educational organizations. AIISF collects and preserves the journeys of immigrants, sharing those stories through education initiatives and public programs. The Foundation also preserves the Immigration Station site in Angel Island State Park. Through these initiatives, they honor the complex and complicated history of immigration.

Mr. Tepporn will begin his new role on November 1.
